Veteran Commandos Wanted

Veteran Commandos Wanted

08/05/2013

NO ONE knows Lochaber and especially Achnacarry and Spean Bridge, an area steeped in Commando history, better than a Royal Marines veteran who spent time training there himself.

That’s why the Commando Spirit Appeal is looking for World War II Royal Marines Commandos veterans with a special connection to ‘Commando Country’ to join us and become Ambassadors for our main event for 2013: Survive The Yomp.

Commando Spirit’s mission is to raise £1 million for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund by 2014 and Survive The Yomp will take us one step closer to our target.

Commando Spirit Founder Sally-Anne Hunter says “We want to know your story, memories and experiences of Commando training to make our Appeal even more special. Our veterans are the backbone of this country and we want your dits to inspire our thousands of supporters.”

Survive The Yomp will take place on 14 September 2013 in Commando Country, with up to 90 participants braving the rugged terrain to complete the 30-miler and raise life changing sums for Royal Marines and their families in need.

We would love to have some of our veterans involved in the run up to the event and to join us on the day to support and present awards to those taking part. We will provide up to £200 towards reasonable travel and accommodation costs.

It would be an honour to have you come along and be part of our special day – for more information and an initial chat please contact Claire Stanley on 01698 787843 or Chris McGhee on 01698 787844.
